Bri Lacy describes her journey towards becoming a public defender as the first person in her family to graduate traditional college and obtain a law degree.
Bri Lacy is a staff attorney for the Capital Collateral Regional Counsel - South Office (CCRC) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she represents adult clients in their capital postconviction proceedings.
Prior to joining CCRC, Bri was a staff attorney with the Youth Advocacy Department (YAD) of the Committee for Public Counsel Services in Massachusetts representing juveniles in delinquency and youthful offender proceedings. While at YAD, Bri collaborated with various youth groups to offer regular "Know Your Rights" trainings county-wide.
In 2014, Bri received an award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Worcester, Massachusetts for her work with youth in the community. She received her J.D. in 2009 from Northeastern University School of Law and B.A in Sociology and Women's Studies in 2006 from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
When not working to abolish the death penalty or dismantle the school to prison pipeline, Bri enjoys spending time with loved ones and chasing sunsets around the world.
